Spread Your Wings - Sizzix Handmade Card

Hi crafty friends! Welcome back to my blog! I hope you're having a wonderful and creative day.

For today I have a new card made using an awesome die set from the previous release from Sizzix, called Sizzix Thinlits Die Set 3PK - Natural Bird. I thought that I should share this card before I start sharing cards with the new dies.

Such a gorgeous design and I love that you can use the negative space from the die cut (left after die cutting) and create a different look for your card. I made a card using this technique and you can find it here. 

Now I used one of the bird die cuts left from that card and I created an easy to make but striking card.
First step was to prepare a panel from watercolor cardstock and to add clean water all over it. Then, on a piece of clear packaging I added a few of my Distress Inks (Fossilized Amber, Seedless Preserves and Peacock Feathers) on it and applied them to my wet panel using the ink smooshing technique. After I got the result that I wanted I dried the panel with my heat gun. For more effect I added white splatters over my panel.

Next, I die cut the bird from gold glitter cardstock and I glued the white one (left from my previous card) on top of it at a slightly different angle. Mounted the bird on my panel and I added a sentiment white embossed on a teal strip of cardstock. 

I glued a few clear sequins and my card was done.
