03 - Card Design Superstar Contest 2017 - MFT Stamps

This card is for the 2017 Card Design Superstar Contest where you can be one of the 15 lucky winners to win a $250 voucher from My Favorite Things!!! There are 3 categories and today I show you my card for the Coloring Virtuoso category.

I love to spend my time coloring and I really missed playing with my cuties from MFT. 

It was really difficult to create this card because I wanted a background for the adorable hippos drawn and colored by me and I wasn't sure I had it in me :) In the end I love the result and I'm pretty proud of it!

First, I drawn some lines (for the floor and walls) with a pencil on a white panel. 

Then I colored the floor with alcohol markers (trying to mimic a wood floor) and accentuated with colored pencils. Next, I colored the walls keeping half of them white. For the other half I tried creating like a purple wall paper using alcohol markers. The result was ok, but I didn't like that the markers didn't blend in smoothly, so I decided to add some white elements to it and I'm really happy I did :) 

After I was done with the background, I took a look at it and it really looked like a room. I can't tell how proud I was of my work :))

With my background ready, I moved on to coloring the images for the card. For my project I used the absolutely adorable Happy Hippos stamp set. I colored the images with a combination of alcohol markers and colored pencils. Then, I fussy cut and arranged them on my panel, but I felt that something was missing. That was the moment when I decided that the room needed something else, so I took out the Merry Christmoose set (which I believe is retired :( now ) and colored the little rug and I placed on the floor. It was the perfect match :D So, I mounted all my images on the panel, stamped a sentiment, glued a few clear sequins and my card was finally done! Yay!
